Disney Princess Half Marathon!!

329 Days until my mom and I run in the Disney Princess Half Marathon!
It won't just be my first time to participate in a runDisney event, it will be my first run PERIOD. I have never liked running I hate running. So why am I doing it? Well here are a few of my reasons:

1. I LOVE Everything Disney
Disney World has always been a magical place for my family. So many wonderful family vacations have been spent there, and I feel like our shared love of Disney (movies, parks, shows, you name it) has always kept us close. Anything to get me back to Disney World I'll do... even running.

2. Fitness Goals
I began doing Crossfit classes with my mom twice a week while I was home last summer. I loved the way I felt about my body when I was working out, but then I came back to school... don don dooonnnnn. And no surprise, I got soft again. I am endlessly trying to change my eating habits, but it wasn't until that fateful day when I found my MaxOut Groupon that I became determined once again.
Myself and my ever-so supportive boyfriend bought a one month pass at a Crossfit place in Lubbock. Now I'm in my third month of Crossfit! yay! I've decided that it is part of my lifestyle now, not a temporary fix. Now that I'm building more muscle, I'd like to trim down too. My goal is to run 2x/week  + Crossfit 3x/week until 24 weeks before the race when I start training full time.

3. #MyMomIsCoolerThanYourMom
Yep, I said it. My mom is so awesome guys. You really don't even know. She's a retired science teacher, elementary school principal, and librarian who turns anything she touches into gold. Literally she can do everything. When my parents moved out of state a couple months ago, her plan was to retire (for the second time). But naturally, her Disney skills were unearthed and BAM! she had a job as an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner with smallworldbigfun.com . So now that she's got all the scoop (and deals) on Disney trips, I know my family is set for life. This race will give us some great "Mother/ Daughter bonding" and it will give her more ammo in her Disney trip planning arsenal (is it wrong to talk about Disney and guns in the same sentence?hm).

I am so excited to work toward this goal with my mom by my side. I think it is going to be one of the most challenging and rewarding things I've ever done. I'm going to try to keep myself accountable to the training process by occasionally posting some updates when I hit big milestones.

PS. On another note, I have been dating my best friend and love of my life, Stefan, for 6 months  TODAY! I've been saying 6 months going on 5 years, since that is how long we've been best friends, but seriously I'm the luckiest girl in the world. He makes me feel like a princess every single day, and I don't need a 1/2 marathon to feel it! Thank you Stef for your understanding, kind, and patient heart. You mean more to me than you'll know. Love you.

xoxo
